How many eSIMs can one phone hold?

Your phone will happily store several eSIM profiles at once, but it only lets two lines be active at the same time. That is the rule on recent iPhones and on Android phones that support multiple enabled profiles, recent Pixels included: two active lines, whether that means your usual line plus a travel eSIM, or two eSIMs side by side. So running into a limit of two eSIMs is not a fault, and it is not something your provider decides. It only concerns the profiles that are switched on. The others stay installed and dormant, ready to be switched back on in a couple of taps from your SIM settings.
